Hirayama (Kôji Yakusho) works in Tokyo cleaning public toilets. He seems content with his simple life, dedicating his free time to his passion for music and books. Then a series of minor events reminds him of life’s missed opportunities. With a performance that earned Yakusho the best actor award at Cannes, Perfect Days captures the poetry of the everyday with intimacy and stunning simplicity. A poignant character study and deeply moving reflection on finding beauty in the world around us.

Perfect Days is another masterwork from Wenders, a recognition of life’s curiosities, the small details that make it all worthwhile, and finding beauty in the overlooked things in life.
Ross Bonaime, Collider

The director has crafted a film of deceptive simplicity, observing the tiny details of a routine existence with such clarity, soulfulness and empathy that they build a cumulative emotional power almost without you noticing. David Rooney, Hollywood Reporter

Perfect Days is a poem of extraordinary subtlety and beauty. Alissa Wilkinson, Vox.
