A federal justice agent, Benjamín Espósito (Darín), becomes spellbound and subsequently entangled in the investigation of a crime in which a young woman was brutally raped and murdered inside her house in Buenos Aires. Aided by his alcoholic friend and assistant Pablo Sandoval (Francella) and lawyer Irene Menéndez-Hastings (Villamil), Espósito comes across a dubious young man, Isidoro Gómez (Godino), who is then arrested in a dramatically filmed scene in a football stadium, only to be released from prison shortly thereafter in a bureaucratic shuffle forged by one of Espósito's contenders in the judicial system. Filmed as a flashback to the milieu of 1970's Argentina, Espósito looks back 24 years later to finally resolve the mysterious circumstances surrounding this case.
