Reviews:
Sandra Hall, Sydney Morning Herald:  “Firth gives one of his most stitched-up performances as the adult Blake…His aloofness, with its awkward hesitancies and ragged bursts of feeling, means that it's all the more moving when he finally lets go.”

Stanley Kauffmann, New Republic:  “What ensures our pleasure is the dialogue, which is supple, and the quality of the acting.”

Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer:  “A small, beautifully acted piece adapted from the British poet Blake Morrison's memoir.”

Arthur Morrison (Jim Broadbent) is diagnosed with terminal cancer and has a few weeks left to live. His son, Blake Morrison (Colin Firth) travels to Yorkshire to stay with his mother (Juliet Stevenson) in the village where he grew up.  As his father's condition worsens, Blake contemplates their shared experiences through a series of flashbacks on the intimacies and the irritations of their relationship; recollections that touch on both heart-rendering and uncompromising memories of a lifetime.  Based upon Blake Morrison's moving and candid autobiographical memoir of his father in the weeks leading up to his death, Tucker's adaptation is solidly scripted and well-acted; guard your heartstrings.
