Reviews:
Mike Scott, Times-Picayune: "A wonderfully constructed and beautifully acted fable that serves as a reminder of how much of a treasure Robert Duvall is."
Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer: "It's Duvall, spooky, sly, and sad, who makes all the props and the plot twists seem real."
Erik Childress, eFilmCritic.com: "It is a genuine, often hilarious period piece with Aaron Schneider firmly in control of an impressive lineup of actors and a smoothly inviting script."

A tale based on the real-life legend of the mysterious 1930s Tennessee hermit who threw his own rollicking funeral party ... while he was still alive. For years, townsfolk have been terrified of the backwoods recluse known as Felix Bush (Robert Duvall). When Felix arrives in town saying he wants to buy a "living funeral", the funeral home owner Frank Quinn (Bill Murray) and his apprentice Buddy Robinson (Lucas Black) work to win Felix's business. As the funeral approaches, the mystery of why Felix has been hiding out – which involves the widow Maddie Darrow (Sissy Spacek) and the Illinois preacher Charlie Jackson (Bill Cobbs) – only deepens. But on the big day, the long-held secret must finally come to light.
